On Saturday, November 29th, at approximately 1:30 am, a resident from the Cherrywood Drive area contacted the Gloucester Township Police Communications Center and advised that he had observed a male in his vehicle and that the male had fled when confronted. The resident advised that the male ran to a nearby Nissan sedan that then left the area. Officers began canvassing the area for the vehicle as well as checking for other possible victims of car burglaries.
Officers located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a motor vehicle stop. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle and three male occupants were involved in the car burglaries. They were also found to be in possession of several items that they had just stolen from cars in the Cherrywood Drive area. At this time, six victims have been identified.
Arrested were Wesley Smart, Deryck Banks and Alnias Marshall. They were each charged with four counts of burglary-third degree, two counts of criminal attempt burglary-third degree and three counts of theft, a disorderly person’s offense. They were processed and released on criminal summons pending a future court appearance.
