The Gloucester Township Police Respond To A Threat Called Into Shoprite

LOCATION: Shoprite-1200 Chews Landing Road Laurel Springs, NJ 08021

On Thursday, February 11, 2021, at approximately 5:23pm, the Gloucester Township Police Department were dispatched to the Shoprite on Chews Landing Road for a telephonic threat that the building is going to blow up.
Upon arrival, officers began to safely evacuate the business. Officers than began to evacuate surrounding businesses that were located in the same complex as the Shoprite. A short time later, The Market Place Shopping Center was safely and completely evacuated.
The Camden County Sheriffs Department Bomb Squad responded with K9 bomb dogs to conduct searches of the complex. The searches were negative for any signs of destructive devices.
Fire Departments and EMS from Gloucester Township also responded to assist.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Department Investigations Bureau.
