Teenage Girl Struck By Vehicle After Exiting A School Bus

On Tuesday January 21st at approximately 7:25 pm, Gloucester Township Police responded to the area of Kearsley Road at Cedar Grove Drive, in the Sicklerville section of the Township, for a report of teenager struck by a vehicle. Arriving Officers located a 14 year old female with a leg injury laying in the roadway. She was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment.

Preliminary investigation determined that female had exited a Camden County Technical School bus and was struck by a Kia Forte as she crossed the street after exiting the bus. The driver remained on scene after the crash.

The Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) is conducting the investigation. The names of the driver and pedestrian are not being released at this time.

While the cause if the crash is still under investigation, drivers are reminded that New Jersey motor vehicle statutes require that when a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing, traffic in both directions must stop no less than 25 feet from the bus. You must remain fully stopped until the red lights are turned off.
