Stolen Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrest of Late Night Car Burglar

On July 30th, 2020 at approximately 2:30 pm, an officer on proactive patrol observed a red Honda Accord that matched the description of one that was stolen the night prior from the Blackwood section of the Township. After confirming that the vehicle was the one stolen, Officers stopped the vehicle and took the driver and passenger into custody without incident. Located in the vehicle were various items that had been reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in the Blackwood Estates development during the overnight hours. All recovered property was returned to its rightful owners.

The 17 year old male driver was charged with several counts of Burglary (3rd Degree) and Theft By Unlawful Taking (3rd Degree). The juvenile female passenger was not charged at this time pending further investigation. Their information is not being released due to their ages.

By participating in the 9 PM routine, you can help reduce the opportunity for burglaries and thefts.
