On Thursday, October 1, 2020 at approximately 10:55 am Gloucester Township Police Officers responded to the area of East Landing Road off of Rt 168 in Blackwood for a report of a single motor vehicle crash into a tree.
Arriving Officers located the vehicle with significant front end damage and airbags deployed at rest against a large tree. The driver of the vehicle was in and out of consciousness and appeared to be suffering from serious bodily injuries. Gloucester Township EMS, Chews Landing Fire Department and Virtua Paramedics arrived on location to remove the driver and provide medical treatment. The driver was transported to Cooper Medical Center where it was learned they died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
This crash is being investigated by members of the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT). During the initial phases of the investigation E. Landing Road was shut down for approximately two hours. The name of the driver is being withheld at this time pending further investigation and notifications to family.
