On Saturday 05/30/2020 at approximately 1030 AM, the Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) received a report via the GTPD Online Reporting System. The victim reported that she received several harassing phone calls from an unknown male. The male would repeatedly call her and make unprovoked offensive/inappropriate comments causing the victim to feel alarmed and distressed.
This online report was referred to the Gloucester Township Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau – Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU). Detectives maintained contact with the victim and provided assistance. During the comprehensive investigation, Detectives discovered the victim recently had a Philadelphia furniture company assist her with a donation of furniture. During this donation employees came to the victim’s residence to pick up the furniture. Since this donation, the victim started receiving several harassing phone calls from an unknown male subject. This harassment occurred repeatedly for approximately three weeks.
Detectives conducted extensive research and a thorough analysis of evidence which resulted in the suspect being identified as George Tobin. Tobin was found to be an employee of the furniture company and had access to the victim’s contact information, which resulted in Tobin aggressively harassing the victim via cell phone for an extensive period of time.
Somerdale resident, George Tobin was charged with Stalking (while on parole or probation – 3rd degree) and Harassment (while on parole or probation – 4th degree). Tobin was arrested on 06/16/20 and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a Central First Appearance in accordance with the New Jersey Criminal Reform Act.
