On February 1st 2021, at approximately 1:43 pm, a Gloucester Township Police Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on an older model red Chevrolet Pickup truck with a dark gray tailgate, after the driver was observed to have committed multiple traffic violations as he traveled along Blackwood-Clementon Road. Due to snow covering the vehicles license plate, it was unable to be read. The driver refused to pull over to the shoulder or any of the parking lots along Blackwood-Clementon Road as he ignored the officers’ emergency lights and siren. He continued into Pine Hill and initially slowed down but still would not pull over to the shoulder area. The driver eventually pulled over to the shoulder but re-entered the roadway after the officer pulled up behind him. Due to road conditions and the safety of other drivers, the pursuit was terminated. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to surrounding agencies to aid in identifying the driver and vehicle.
With the assistance of the Pine Hill Borough Police Department, the driver and vehicle were identified. Pine Hill Police then located the vehicle at the owners’ residence in a local apartment complex. The driver was identified as Andre Pitts. Mr. Pitts admitted to officers that he was driving the pickup truck and that he did not pull over for the officer. He was taken into custody and charged with eluding and several traffic violations. Mr. Pitts was released on a criminal summons with a pending court date.
This is but just one example of the interagency cooperation that is so important in law enforcement to aid in successfully solving cases.
