Gloucester Township Police Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash On Black Horse Pike

On Monday, April 27, 2020 at approximately 4:48 PM, Officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the area of 1223 N. Black Horse Pike Blackwood, NJ 08012 for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
An adult male was reportedly struck by a large box truck which was backing down the shoulder of the Black Horse Pike. The male was transported to Cooper Hospital, Camden, NJ for further medical treatment and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was later arrested for DWI. The investigation is being conducted by the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. Pending the outcome of further investigation, additional charges may be forthcoming.
The names of the pedestrian and driver are being held pending the completion of the investigation.
